St George’s Hall is one of Liverpool’s most iconic buildings, a majestic and draw-dropping beautiful setting.
London-based Biologic Records return this April with ‘Juan El Jefe’ by Spanish trio Gameboyz, backed with a Marc Pinol remix. Biologic Records’ roster hosts the likes of Clouded Vision artist Morgan Hammer, and Dame Music / Highgrade artist Attan, and was established by Abstraxion and DC Salas as a platform to release intelligent electronic music across the board.
2020 Vision welcomes a new name on to its roster this April with the ‘Frisson’ EP by Rosco Sledge. Rosco Sledge may be a new name to take on board, but the Brazilian producer and Christian Smith affiliate has been plugging away in the underground for nearly a decade now under various monikers, and this new Sledge alias is yet another platform for him to release the new sounds he’s been experimenting with.

On February 18, Tomorrowland announced plans for a second 2013 edition, TomorrowWorld in the Chattahoochee Hills, USA. Taking place on September 27, 28 and 29, this location, just 30 minutes from the Atlanta International Airport, will be transformed to entertain possibly 150,000 revellers from around the world. Dennis Ferrer was last seen performing for Defected at the London NYE show and Noir’s ‘In The House’ mix collection was named Album of the Month and labelled “essential” by Mixmag.
It’s taken Armin van Buuren three years to complete his fifth full-length studio album, ‘Intense’, the follow-up to his 2010 artist album ‘Mirage’. ‘Intense’ will be released by Armada Music on May 3 and on April 5, the first single from the album will be released: ‘This Is What It Feels Like’ featuring Trevor Guthrie. That same date, it will also be released on the brand new ANA (Armada North America) label, a sub-label of Armada Music focusing on North-American territories.
Clear Channel Media and Entertainment recently announced the launch of Evolution 93.5 Miami, its second broadcast Electronic Dance Music (EDM) station. The new format will feature non-stop dance tracks by artists including Skrillex, David Guetta, Calvin Harris and more. Evolution 93.5 Miami will kick off its launch with two All Gone Pete Tong parties featuring Pete Tong, Evolution’s ambassador DJ on March 16 and 22, at The Surfcomber Hotel on Miami Beach.

What began as a few spontaneous DJ sets between good friends and collaborators has grown into a hybrid stage persona. The result is the New World Punx (NWP), the high-energy DJ duo consisting of Markus Schulz and Ferry Corsten. The name derives from Ferry Corsten’s anthem, ‘Punk’ and Markus Schulz’s track, ‘The New World’.
Following on from 2010’s album ‘Inside’, Spanish duo Aphro and Pablo Bolívar aka Pulshar return to Desolat with the ‘Different Drum EP’. Opener, ‘Wasting Time’, is a collaboration with Desolat label head Loco Dice. The track, which was creating during a jam session between these friends, is a deep and twisted journey, with ocean-deep sub-bass, and features a synth line from Loco Dice in addition to his own distorted vocals which echo in and out of the music.
The Def Mix party crew get set to party at the Vagabond on Saturday, marking 26 annual events at Miami's WMC! The Godfathers, Frankie Knuckles and David Morales will be joined by new Def Mix member Quentin Harris in the main room, with Hector Romero and Brazil's DJ Meme at the controls in the bar. After a six year hiatus Mr.C’s Superfreq label is back with a new single from the man himself. The Superfreq label was originally launched by Mr.C and Luke vB back in 2004 as an extension of Mr.C’s Superfreq club brand born from the monthly night at his legendary club, The End. Music from Mr.C alongside productions from the likes of Levon Vincent, Adultnapper and Barbq kept the label on the edgier side of electronic music before it came to a halt in 2007. Now with a new label partner in the shape of David Scuba, Mr.C and Luke vB are back.
Lifestyle publication Flaunt Magazine recently announced its 2013 official South by Southwest (SXSW) music showcase for the festival on Tuesday, March 12, in Austin, Texas. The showcase, They Want You To Get Drunk On Feeling Like You Belong, will be held at Austin's The North Door and features a progressive mix of international and Austin-based talent.
Matt Tolfrey’s Leftroom Limited releases Sam Russo’s ‘Losing Things’ today, backed with a remix from Jack Dixon. Sam Russo has had a long running relationship with the Leftroom label and his collaborative EP, ‘The Summer Soundtrack’, with Huxley back in 2011 led to a string of further releases on the imprint, as well as other labels such as OFF Recordings, Air London, 1trax and Fullbarr.
‘Back To Basics’ is the debut album from Around 7 and the first release on new label Robsoul Jazz, an offshoot of the Robsoul Recordings house label run by Phil Weeks. The album and new label focus on laid-back jazz, hip hop and broken beats, and also reflect the art of sampling. Hip Hop influences such as J Dilla and DJ Premier are in heavy evidence, alongside the jazz of Miles Davis, Bill Evans and the legendary Blue Note Records.
‘Blackout’ is the first single to be released from Wretch 32’s forthcoming third studio album. Premiered on MistaJam’s Radio 1Xtra show, the track was produced by emerging talent Knox Brown who hails from Birmingham and created the record in his bedroom studio. Wretch 32 was the first British grime artist to sample a peer when he used Kano’s ‘P’s and Q’s’ for his club track ‘Pop?’ earlier this year.

The Playground hits KOKO in London on Easter Thursday March 28 with Vitalic as the headliner. Pascal Arbez, better known by his stage name Vitalic, is a French electronic artist, songwriter and remixer who to date has released three studio albums – his debut ‘OK Cowboy’, ‘Flashmob’ and the most recent, ‘Rave Age,’ which was released on November 5 last year.
Marquee Nightclub & Dayclub in Las Vegas recently announced Summer Lovin’ with Kaskade, a residency for 2013 which will bring the GRAMMY-nominated DJ to the venue for 24 performances over 16 weeks during the spring and summer seasons. For 12 weekends, from May through August, Kaskade brings his sound to Marquee, in what should be some top parties for the top venue.

Audiojack’s Gruuv imprint kicks off 2013 will a five track EP from Tom Budden & Forrest, featuring reworks from Coat Of Arms, OOFT! and X-Press 2. Tom Budden has been heavily involved in the industry for several years now, working with the likes of Time Has Changed and Suara and launched his own label, Alive, in 2008, which has welcomed artists in the shape of KRL, Rebel, Bubba & T-Bone and Chris James onto its roster.
The Madrid-based Depaart imprint returns this month with its fifth release, ‘Loose Feelin’’ by Georgeous, backed with remixes from Evan Iff and Sidechains. Depaart launched in 2012 with releases from label-heads Moliner and Georgeous, picking up support from the likes of DJ Deep, 6th Borough Project, Wolf Music and Iron Curtis to name a few. This release marks the fifth release for the label and again shows its tasteful approach towards electronic music.
Christian Smith gets set to release his new album ‘Omakase’, which translates as tasting menu or entrust in Japanese, and is the follow-up to his ‘Director’s Cut’ (Tronic, 2010) album. Christian has created a dancefloor-orientated selection of tracks that explore and showcase his various styles within the techno genre: groovy, musical, peak-time and minimal.
The Other Tribe recently announced a run of shows in April and May. They’ve been holed up in their studio in the Bristol countryside through the winter, producing the tracks that will make up their debut album due out late summer. In 2012, they urged people to ‘join the tribe’; and wherever the band went, the party vibe followed.

On May, Armin van Buuren will release his new artist album, titled ‘Intense’. The five times voted #1 DJ in the world announced the follow-up to his successful 2010 ‘Mirage’ album last night, during his A State of Trance radio show. ‘Intense’ is an album more diverse than any of Armin’s previous albums, crossing over from progressive and trance to classic and rock.
Maintaining a successful 10-year long career in dance music (is it really that long?) is no mean feat and The Shapeshifters (AKA Simon Marlin and his Swedish partner Max Reich) have not only managed to stay fresh throughout the course of their career, but they are possibly one of the UK's most successful dance acts ever. Their hits include the classic ‘Lola's Theme’ to ‘Back To Basics ‘and ‘Incredible’ and don’t forget the remixes for the likes of George Michael, Christina Aguilera, Moby and Cee Lo Green amongst many others.
