UK based Dale Howard has been a main-stay on Toolroom for the past nine years and is apparently a firm favourite on the label. He has progressed in those years and is currently at the peak of his career, having just returned from a South America tour and releasing on Lee Foss’ Repopulate Mars, Noizu’s Techne imprint, Sink or Swim and Incorrect.
ESSEL came to Toolroom’s attention at one of their We Are Listening events a few years back and since that day the label have worked closely with her. She is a staple member of the in-house management roster and her releases on the label have apparently performed well.
Landing back on the label with hands in the air on this rework of a house classic is Solardo and their take on 'Le Voie Le Soleil' from Patrick Prins. Timed for the end of club and festival season, this is a version that stays true to the original’s signature yearning piano stabs whilst also being aimed for today’s dancefloors.
Next up on Toolroom is a label debut from London based DJ/producer, Deeper Purpose, who’s landing with the tech house track, ‘The Stutter’. An artist aiming to create shockwaves across the dance music spectrum, he is becoming a more familiar name in the dance sphere having earned a reputation as a producer with releases on imprints such as Off The Grid, Catch & Release and Repopulate Mars.
Toolroom founder Mark Knight lands back on his imprint, updating one of house music’s classic records ‘Let’s Get Brutal’ by Nitro Deluxe, bringing it forward to dance floors in 2023 as ‘Brutal’. Following up his collaboration with NYC’s Todd Terry on the label in March with ‘Make You Happy’, Mark returns after digging deep into the vaults of classic house and unearthing a gem of a record.
Back onto the Toolroom label and fresh from his last cut ‘Emergency’, resident Ellis Moss is back with another, chunky deep tech roller – ‘Get Mad’. The London based DJ/producer delves deeper into a toughened-up club sound, as he aims to blur the lines between tech house and techno to carve out a space for himself within the underground.
Toolroom’s second release of the year sees the return of DJ/production duo Leftwing : Kody who team up with producer James Hurr on their debut outing ‘Music Is the Medication’. Familiar to the label the duo have possibly established themselves as one of the most successful acts to come through the label. Their records have proven popular, from ‘If You Wanna’ and ‘Without You’ with Camden Cox to ‘I Feel It’ which sits on 30 million plus streams on Spotify.
Toolroom’s latest release is from Liverpudlian DJ/producer ESSEL, who returns to the label with ‘Lennon’. An artist well versed in the art of production, she has been a firm fixture of the Toolroom family over the past few years.
Toolroom drop their final release of 2022 and it’s from Italy’s CASSIMM, who gets his hands on the ‘90s dance music track from Atlantic Ocean ‘Waterfall’. A record originally released back in 1993 that hit the top 20 in the UK charts, #3 in The Netherlands, #9 in Ireland and several others globally, it’s a definite back in the day classic!
With 2023 is just around corner, Toolroom aim to up their game with one more outing of tech house to send off 2022. Introducing German selector Eddie Thoneick who makes a label debut with his club orientated track ‘Take It Back’.
