Change The Beat | Drumcode | Mha Iri

Open to women, trans and non-binary artists, Change the Beat and Drumcode recently announced a competition to remix one of their biggest techno cuts of 2023; Mha Iri ‘Bell’. Change the Beat is a campaign from Sydney Blu which was created with the help of Native Instruments and is partnered with Beatport.

Its aim is to assist record labels in discovering and signing women, trans, and non-binary producers to help foster a supportive and inclusive community, helping amplify diverse voices in the dance/electronic community through access to music programming, creative mentorship, and facilities for emerging artists.

Founded by Adam Beyer, Drumcode Records apparently stands as ‘the highest-selling and most influential imprint in techno’, has spawned a radio show and a sell-out festival in Amsterdam. Over the years everyone from Marco Carola, Nicole Moudaber, Sam Paganini, Maceo Plex and many more have released on the label. Hosting stages at Tomorrowland, EDC and Awakenings has further reinforced the brand’s standing.

Mha Iri, the rising techno artist from Scotland, has apparently become the breakout sensation of 2023. In 2023, she was the #1 best-selling female artist in Hard Techno on Beatport, and #2 in Peak Time / Driving Techno. All releases on Drumcode and Filth on Acid made it into Beatport’s Top 10 genre charts, with ‘Bell’ scoring the #1 chart position.

‘Bell’ was one of Drumcode’s biggest releases of 2023.

This is an opportunity for budding producers to get their hands on the original stems and be in with a chance of an official release on the label along with some more prizes.
