Dutch producer Mason and NYC-born hip-hop artist Afrika “Baby Bam” have bumped firsts for a new single, ‘The Wicked’. With Mason’s beats and Afrika's flow, the track is aiming to be popular for this within both musical genres.
Mason: “I felt like creating a block party jam with a lil' homage to old skool hip-hop, as I was working with Jungle Brothers MC 'Afrika Baby Bam' on this. Enjoy kids, put it on 11!"
‘The Wicked’ marks Mason’s return to Armada Music, the label which re-released the track ‘Perfect (Exceeder)’. Coupling grooves and half-time breakbeats with sound effects, sudden tempo changes and a vocal, the track aims to a fresh new take on crossover tracks.
Iason Chronis, the Dutch DJ and producer better known as Mason, hit #1 in the UK dance chart (and #3 in the UK singles chart) with his silver-certified 2006 release ‘Perfect (Exceeder)’, which also topped Belgian dance charts. This year he topped the Beatport house chart with a reinvention of his track ‘Givin Up’ which he co-released with Toolroom boss Mark Knight, and saw support from Martin Garrix, Armin van Buuren, Danny Howard, Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano, Bakermat and Dannic.
Hailing from New York City, hip-hop artist Afrika “Baby Bam” rose to prominence as a member of the hip-hop group Jungle Brothers, as well as being a founding member of hip-hop collective Native Tongues along with De La Soul and A Tribe Called Quest.
