A true classic named after the club that first debuted it, Spiller’s ‘Groovejet (If This Ain’t Love)’ featuring Sophie Ellis-Bextor has possibly earned itself the ‘timeless’ title in more ways than one. Originally released in 2000 and acquired by Defected records over two decades later, the chart-topping anthem has had a revival following Purple Disco Machine & Lorenz Rhode’s rework along with Italian Riva Starr’s remix package.
Now Glitterbox is taking the reins to give the groove a different shape and they’ve placed the record in French producer Breakbot and his creator in crime Irfane, to prove there’s no limit to innovation with a new chunk of funk.
If that gear up wasn’t enough, Australian funk synthesist Harvey Sutherland’s remix presents a fresh perspective with his synths and funk-furthering influence tucked in with Sophie’s familiar tenor. The evolution of this track aims to ensure there’s a mix for every taste.
It’s out 4 March on Glitterbox Recordings.
