Vega & Romero

Louie Vega and Harry Romero collaborate for the first time with ‘El Ritmo’ landing on Bambossa Records this month. Fuelled by organic percussion and atmospherics, the track is a Latin-influenced affair - a vocal snippet raises the temperature, while a blast of heavy drums, dubby chords and rising pads add texture.

Louie Vega has been involved in the scene for more than three decades, rising through the ranks with a sound on labels like Nervous, Defected, and his Vega Records imprint, as well as part of Masters At Work and Nuyorican Soul with Kenny Dope. Last year welcomed the arrival of his collaboration ‘Let It Go’ alongside The Martinez Brothers and Marc E. Bassy on Defected, making its way into Beatport charts, whilst gaining over three million streams globally.

Harry Romero has carved out a reputation amongst New York’s house scene and across the globe as a producer, DJ, and remix artist. His Bambossa Records imprint continues with a discography of material from the label boss himself as well as the likes of Basement Jaxx, Demuir, and Robb Swinga.

The cover of ‘El Ritmo’ was drawn by Romero, combining traditional Colombian and Puerto Rican tribal drawings to reflect both artists' heritage on this new release.

Louie Vega: “Harry and I have always talked about a collaboration on a track, the plan finally came to fruition. We had fun on this one and look forward to moving dancefloors worldwide, El Ritmo, let's go!"

Harry Romero: “Louie Vega is a person that I hold in very high regard. He is one of the main reasons why I got into house music. So, to have had the opportunity to collaborate with him and to release our work on my label Bambossa is truly a dream come true."

Louie Vega and Harry Romero’s ‘El Ritmo’ drops via Bambossa Records on 28 May 2021.
