Leee John (the lead singer of the British band Imagination) and Byron Stingily (the voice behind the American band Ten City) have joined forces for their new single 'Proud & Bold,' a disco-fied track that aims to celebrate self-belief, resilience, unity and hope.
Written and produced by Leee and Dee Vaz for LJ Music Ltd, the track combines soulful vocals and contemporary production to uplift and connect, encouraging listeners to embrace their individuality, stand confidently in their truth, and support one another through life's challenges.
Powered by a disco soundtrack teased with guitar licks, strings and drums, it sports a lineup of musicians and producers including Shumya (string arrangements), Crispin Taylor (drums), Isaiah Brown (bass), Yves Erson (guitar), and Toby Baker and Dee Vaz (keyboards).
The release also includes remixes from DJ Destruction (Ross Emmins), Ernie McKone of Boogie Back Productions, and Erique Dial of Raze.
Leee John: “When I wrote ‘Proud & Bold’, I looked at the world around me - the struggles people face, the political divisions, and the challenges so many are dealing with every day. I wanted to write a song that represents positivity, hope, and upliftment for everyone."
While touring America with Imagination, Leee first met a young Byron Stingily in a Chicago record store, where Byron told him one day he would like to work with him. Their paths crossed again in the mid‑1990s after Byron’s success with Ten City, reconnecting through producer Peter Rauhofer, who matched Byron with Leee’s song, 'Give Into Love'.
