Max Sinàl’s Soul Quest Records welcomes South African female artist Sio to the label with her ‘Losing Sleep’ EP. Delivering a selection of three songs, produced by London’s Sean Green, Max Sinàl, KingCrowney and Slxm Sol, she reveals some of her most heartfelt slices of dancefloor soul to date. 

Lead track ‘Serious’ showcases her talent and vibe, with her voice and storytelling flowing over a deep, warm soundtrack, teased with lush keys and afrocentric beats. ‘Somewhere’ brings a jazzy NeoSoul twist to the EP, wrapped in her tones and hopeful message. ‘Hello’ is a laid-back, contemporary, soul-drenched groove, complete with a chorus, as she waxes lyrical about a questionable love interest.

Multi-hyphenate poet, DJ and singer-songwriter Sio has an ability to lay her soul bare and tap into the rich spectrum of human experience. Authentic vulnerability comes naturally to the South African storyteller; it’s inherent in her artistry, utilising poetry, songwriting, spoken word and her voice to share her life experiences. With storytelling skills and lyricism, she has earned respect with a catalogue of music on labels such as Tru Thoughts, Metalheadz, The Remedy Project, Defected, Stay True Sounds and many more, as well as gaining a long list of collaborators and supporters.

Her spiritual outlook is often inspired by the workings of the universe, and her latest album, ‘Sarang / 사랑 ,’ seeks to put one particular spiritual practice to the test with the law of attraction. 

Sio ‘Losing Sleep’ EP will be released on Traxsource promo and streaming on 17 July, with a full release on 31 July on Soul Quest Records.
