Josh Wink

Following the launch of his Found Sounds series earlier this year, DJ/producer Josh Wink returns with the next chapter: a live recording from a night at the Nike Pavilion in Atlanta, GA, during the height of the U.S. rave explosion in 1998. Available now exclusively on Apple Music, the mix continues Wink’s celebration of three decades of DJing and producing.

Josh Wink: “It’s a bit unclear which party this was from, but I remember it being a packed, sweaty night during the good old rave days. You can hear the crowd cheerfully shouting and screaming at certain moments in the recording - literally coming through the turntable’s needle. I’ve always loved playing events like these because I felt free to explore a wide range of music styles, and you can hear that journey in this recording: house, minimal, acid, and techno all living together.”

Recorded entirely on vinyl, the set captures him digging deep into his collection.

Josh Wink: “When I tried to ID some of the tracks, I couldn’t. Maybe this will encourage listeners to join in the ‘ID game’ and help uncover the mysteries hidden in the mix.”

The Found Sounds series launched earlier this year with Wink’s legendary 1998 set from Twilo, a night at one of New York City’s most iconic clubs, and continues to provide access to the archives.

These releases celebrate Wink’s 30-year journey and the impact of tracks like ‘Don’t Laugh’, ‘I’m Ready’, and ‘Higher State of Consciousness’, which helped define entire eras of techno, acid, and rave culture.
