Apparently emerging as a force in the global afro house scene, DJ Hydra continues his trajectory with the second release on his newly formed imprint, Suru Records. A producer with a clear vision and emotive sound, his profile is expanding fast, with breakout releases on labels that include OVAVA Music, and a newly signed track with DJ Spen’s Quantize Recordings.

His latest single, ‘5am In Soho’ aims to capture an emotional space with this melodic, late-night track.
Hydra: “This one is deeply personal to me. I’m the kind of friend who disappears at 5am for side quests, and then you find me back on the dancefloor grooving till the lights come on. This is my theme song, it represents the start of the end of the night.”
Blending deep African rhythms with electronic grooves, he has crafted a sound that aims to resonate on both underground dancefloors and international stages. His music has already earned support from the likes of Themba, Paco Osuna, Arthur Baker, Ruben Mandolini, and Maxi Meraki, and he’s been featured in various publications.
This release follows on from his debut on Suru Records with ‘Bamidele’ which hit #5 on the Traxsource Afro House chart and broke into the Top 10 overall. His first track, ‘Like House’, accrued 10K+ streams in under two months, catching the attention of UK label OVAVA Music, who signed and reissued the song.
Influenced by artists like Black Coffee and Keinemusik, he’s spent years refining a style that aims to bridge the intimacy of club culture with the energy of major festivals.
