Ovum Recordings recently announced the release of ‘607 Sessions’ by Josh Wink. This inaugural release in a new archival series delves deeply into Wink’s early-bedroom studio output, presenting two previously unreleased versions of the track, ‘Realize’.

Named after the address of the studio where they were created, the release spans back to 1993–1995, apparently a defining period in his career. These years marked his ascent as one of the leading figures of the global acid house and techno scenes, with releases like ‘Higher State of Consciousness’, ‘Don't Laugh’, ‘Meditation Will manifest’ and ‘Liquid Summer’.

‘Realise’ is one of those tracks played by Wink on acetate at raves, warehouses, festivals, and vogue clubs during the scene's formative years. Thought to be lost for decades after a catastrophic hard drive failure, it was recently rediscovered on a forgotten DAT tape during a storage unit clean-out and tested among a trusted circle of DJs.

Josh Wink: "Rediscovering music I composed in the early-1990s feels like unearthing a time capsule from a distant version of myself, who was experimental and endlessly curious. Believing that these tracks (recorded directly onto DAT tape) have miraculously resurfaced with a striking sense of now, as if they were made for this moment, set by a time machine. Back then, I was immersed in the world of hardware instruments, shaping sound through different mindsets and gadgets, constantly pushing boundaries of what these tools could convey. Hearing it again, after all these years, I’m amazed by how alive and relevant they still sound—raw, textured, and unconcerned with trends. It reminds me that honest experimentation can create something timeless.”

The release also coincides with a significant career milestone, as 2025 marks the 30th anniversaries of Josh Wink’s tracks ‘Don’t Laugh’ (as Winx), ‘I’m Ready’, and the classic ‘Higher State of Consciousness’.
