As Circulation, Paul Davis was last on this label back in February with 'Flight' and 'New Way.' They were the latest missives from a producer who has been part of the underground for a quarter of a century. In the early days, he apparently helped shape the early UK tech house scene in the ‘90s and ‘00s, but he also innovated with disco and funk samples and dropped plenty of techno.
Last Night on Earth founder Sasha has always been a fan, which is why he taps up Davis for two more tracks here. 'Bad Luck' shows another side to the Circulation sound, one filled with melodic lushness and introverted emotions.
The melodies and wispy pads all layer up over a groove and static to make for a tender electronic trip with sound design and a journeying sense of narrative.
'Flux' features nimble chords moving about the mix next to vocal fragments and wordless hooks that aim to bring a heavenly feel. The drums are deep, and the synth craft aim to reach for a rich and immersive track.
