Hannah Wants Featuring ARA

Hannah Wants recently revealed her next single on Defected Records, ‘Hold Me,’ featuring singer-songwriter and close friend ARA, which will be released on 7th February, with an acoustic version to follow later in the month.

With a catalogue of releases on the London label, including Hannah’s previous collaboration with ARA ‘The One’, ‘Cure My Desire’ featuring Clementine Douglas, ‘Hard To Breathe’ featuring Hannah Boleyn and ‘Calling’ featuring Jem Cooke, she continues to demonstrate her affinity for collaborating with vocalists and participating in the songwriting process.

Described by Hannah as her “favourite record to date,” the production and lyrics of the track come together to apparently create a cathartic release for the DJ, showcasing the sound of the artist.

Written in December 2023 at a time when Hannah was “unaware that this very song would become my own truth and a part of my own storyline,” its resonates more than ever with her, following a recent breakup of the relationship she was in at the time of writing.

Intertwined with her breakup, Hannah also publicly revealed a cancer re-diagnosis, which only further placed more personal meaning onto the song.

Hannah Wants: “‘Cure My Desire' was born out of heartbreak back in 2020 and played a huge part in my healing, I know releasing ‘Hold Me’ is going to play a similar role.”

With evocative themes of love, loss and resilience bolstered by ARA’s vocal layers, the release is a possible illustration of Hannah’s evolution as an artist and songwriter.

Hannah Wants featuring ARA ‘Hold Me’ is out on Friday 7 February via Defected Records.
