After the 'Hell Hath No Fury’ release, Detroit's Filthiest returns for the start of 2025 with a new five-track EP, ‘Ignorance Is Bliss’. Once again, he aims to show off his blend of musical styles that to create something original. The Baghdad-born, Detroit-made musician and Ghettotech innovator, (real name Julian Shamou) has 25 years as a multi-genre artist.
DJ Nasty, Digitek, 313 Bass Mechanics - those were his aliases in the '90s when he was part of a movement from Detroit that established Ghettotech as a DJ style as well as an electronic music genre.
In 2015, following Disclosure's sampling of his ‘Pass Out’ track (as 313 Bass Mechanics) for their track ‘Bang That’, he re-entered the game with his new moniker.
He's gone on to release a host of tracks, covering electro, house, techno, D&B and more, often blending them with soul and funk, for labels including Casa Voyager, Defected, Defrostatica, Bass Agenda, Philthtrax, Motech Records and his own Motor City Electro Company.
‘Ignorance Is Bliss’ by Detroit's Filthiest is out 31 January on Motor City Electro Company.
