Mees Mattern makes his Dumb Safari debut with a slice of groove-led house backed up with a remix from Wouter S. Mees is a young producer and DJ from the city of Utrecht in Holland and with his productions characterised by low-slung grooves and basslines he now makes his debut on Huxley’s imprint.
‘Da Slapper’ features hats and fills, which give way to a bassline as he builds and releases tension throughout its duration.
On the remix, the label welcomes back Wouter S., the Kompai label owner, producer and DJ who has been marking his place in the Dutch scene over the last decade, racking up releases on labels like Unknown to the Unknown, Waze & Odyssey’s Street Track and Kerri Chandler’s Madhouse Records to name just a few.
For his interpretation, he takes things into a darker, sketchier place with a UK garage-esque bassline and synth lines that arc out of the gloom.
