Miss Monique

Ukraine’s Miss Monique recently dropped her original production ‘Veselka’, the first single of the year on her label, Siona Records. Recognisable behind the decks with her neon green hair, she has been aiming to cultivate a niche within the progressive house scene through her productions, performances and live streams on her own YouTube channel. Siona Records has been at the heart of this, delivering a slew of melodic, trance-tinged house and techno from possibly some of Ukraine’s most exciting artists.

The track apparently was a standout production from her Cercle live stream from Montreal and has opened most of her recent live sets. Rooted in cavernous drums that roll deep with a growling bassline adding weight, the track builds as melody and synths are layered to deliver crescendos which explode, aiming to create hands-in-the-air moments throughout her shows.

Miss Monique: “‘Veselka’ was the last track which I finished in my hometown Kyiv before I had to leave my country due to the war. This track has pure energy, good vibes and is imprinted in my memory like a bright moment of peaceful times.”

With releases on both Drumcode and Armada, Miss Monique possibly sits in the Venn-diagram space between progressive house, trance and techno. Her continued rise has possibly been the result of a commitment to her craft and demonstrated by appearances at Tomorrowland, EDC, and David Guetta’s Future Rave residency at Hi in Ibiza.

Miss Monique ‘Veselka’ is out now via Siona Records.
