Having made an impression on the NuJazz scene since she landed on Ramrock Blue Records last year, Ramsgate’s soulful talent Maxine Scott recently released her new summer single, ‘New To This’. Flipping the script from her ‘Erykah U Bad’ single, this release sees her display an emotional fragility about embarking on the start of a new relationship, as she delivers a vocal dipped in shyness and uncertainty that glides over her urban groove.
Maxine’s debut release on the label last year, 'Erykah U Bad', scored a 10/10 review in Blues and Soul, along with support from Mixmag and DMC, among others and since then she has gone from strength to strength.
Her collaborations with the UK’s alf.E, raised awareness in the future soul scene with their combined talents creating ‘Ya Energy’, ‘SXC’ and ‘Guard Down’, culminating in a showcase gig in March 2023 at London’s Jazz Café.
2023 is already musically busy for Maxine – a No’West remix on ‘New To This’, a project with Black Science Orchestra, a house EP with Australian producer Andrew Sant, and further solo releases.
