DJ and broadcaster Jaguar aims to spotlight the freshest new club tracks from a new generation of electronic creators through her new record label UTOPIA. As a figure in dance music, Mixmag’s “Broadcaster of 2021” and host of BBC Introducing Dance on Radio 1, she originally launched the label as a club night back in 2020 but has since developed the platform.
This track from DRIIA, a London-based DJ, producer and vocalist, who both in the clubs and on air has apparently established a strong creative foundation, as she aims to weave in new sounds into the fabric of the UK dance scene.
Pinned to the vocal confidence, ‘Anyone I Want’ is written with the realism of youthful romance; energetic and a source of UK garage where the emotional stakes are high.
As its second release, the label continues its commitment to releasing a diverse musical range of new music.
DRIIA: “‘Anyone I Want' holds a simple, universal message for people of any gender and age. I'd love for this song to shake us out of our wallowing and self-pity and remind us that we ARE high-value - we can give ourselves everything we desire. Just because someone hasn't met our standards doesn't mean we should lower them. I'd love for this song to offer permission for people to feel elevated, sassy, and confident - let the bad b*tch energy resonate.”
Jaguar recently announced a four date label residency at Brixton's new underground venue Ton of Brix this May and June.
DRIIA – “Anyone I Want” is out now via UTOPIA.
