On Saturday 29 October, French electronic music DJ/producer Michael Canitrot brought his Monumental Tour to Lisbon for the first ever international show to celebrate the closing of the France-Portugal 2022 Cultural Season. Taking place at the Praça do Município, Michael took over the City Hall with a light show and a live set for an audio-visual experience.

Over 5000 people from all generations, including the Minister of Culture Rima Abdul Malak and Mayor of Lisbon Carlos Moedas, apparently gathered at the City Square and during the show, he played a mix of his latest single ‘Take It Back’ ft. Armen Paul – a track that is featuring globally on three main genre playlists on Apple Music – Melodic House & Techno, Breaking Dance and New In Dance. He has also appeared in Spotify’s Nouveautés Electro, Amazon Music Electro’Lala and made the cover and #1 spot on YouTube Music Ultimate Dance Party.

Michael handpicked Portuguese DJs Diana Oliveira and Xinobi to join him on the evening, each playing hour long sets to warm up the crowd, with a digital art show featuring the works of Portuguese visual artist Vanessa Teodoro adding an extra dimension.

Last weekend marked a milestone for Canitrot and his Monumental Tour concept. Supported by the French National Commission for UNESCO, it sees him combine electronic music, heritage and digital art at monuments to unite generations, attracting new audiences to historic sites, and offering them a different modern perspective to raise awareness of their importance and preservation.
