Boku

Boku is following up on his ‘Fortune’ EP with another single, ‘Epiphany’. Blending downtempo stylisations with chopped vocals and instrumentation, the production showcases eclectic inspirations. The track is available on all streaming platforms via Feel Good Lost.

The possible strength of the track lies in the production’s interpolation of diverse instrumentation. After opening with atmospheric elements and acoustic strings, you are met with a percussive break. Managing to keep a cohesive sound throughout, he goes on to include everything from cut-up vocal clips to synths as the track ebbs and flows.

Despite the mass amalgamation of instrumentation sources, the track keeps a tight focus and an optimistic disposition.

Ian Ring has worked with a variety of artists, from his own Young Wonder project to indie artists, Talos and Daithí, with his productions receiving multiple Choice Music Prize nominations for the Irish Album of the Year. He’s graced imprints ranging from Sony and Ultra Music to Universal, Warner, and more, seeing support from BBC Radio 1 and assorted media outlets. He debuted the Boku project in 2019, after the ending of a long-term relationship, deriving the moniker from a word meaning ‘I’.
