Booka Shade return to Blaufield Music to unveil their latest release ‘Torch / The Highs Are Higher’. Following a year which has seen releases via the likes of Mark Knight’s Toolroom as well as two EPs via John Digweed’s Bedrock, the German duo’s recent musical output has seen a firm switch back to the club and firmly towards the dancefloor - with support across recent releases from the likes of Sasha, Hernan Cattaneo, Laurent Garnier, Yousef, and Henry Saiz to name just a few.
Following on from their debut in South Africa, the pair now returns to home turf to deliver their new release, with both tracks already receiving significant attention during their live sets to date. Lead cut ‘Torch’ opens the package as the duo work squelching bass patterns amongst slinking hats and crisp claps to excellent effect, before raising the intensity and introducing a series of sharp, resonant synths.
‘The Highs Are Higher’ keeps the focus on rich stabs, sweeping core melodies and hazy vocal interjections throughout. Last up, a dub mix of lead cut ‘Torch’ offers up an alternative as the emphasis is harnessed on the original’s driving low end tones and metallic drums to conclude the package.
‘Torch/The Highs Are Higher’ is out on Blaufield Music on 20 September.
