Closing out the latter part of the year with a series of collabs on VIVa LiMITED and Glasgow Underground, Italian house-producer Pirupa ends 2018 with a solo release on Armada Subjekt. Fusing genres, the ‘XXL EP’ leads with title track ‘XXL’, a low-slung roller that focuses on a growling bassline layered with effects, tribal percussion and a ragga sample that aims to take you right back to the ‘90s. It’s a straight-talking house track that draws on some well-known old-school warehouse vibes for inspiration.

It’s more of the same with ‘Banging Hips’ which features horns, a bassline that comes straight from the discotheque, keys to match and a marching energy – all wrapped up in a 4/4 house groove.

It’s apparently already had support from DJs such as Mark Knight, MK, Nicole Moudaber, Mihalis Safras, Sacha Robotti, Claptone and Vanilla Ace.

The EP’s out now, check it out below.
