Luke Black

Berlin based Luke Black returns to Tact Recordings this week with his new EP ‘Buccaneers Bodice’, featuring a remix from label co-founder Richard Fletcher. With his previous releases on Tact Recordings straddling the worlds of house and techno, Luke’s blend of minimal soundscapes and rugged percussion have led to the Berlin based producer and DJ releasing on the likes of Yoruba Grooves and Release Sustain, whilst gracing the booths of Club der Visionnaire, Chalet (Berlin), The Rainbow Venues, Egg London and more.

Title cut ‘The Buccaneers Bodice’ opens the EP and sees Black introduce a familiar soundscape of glitches and pops interspersed over a menacing bassline and crisp claps, before the murky ‘Creaking Contraption’ emerges, armed with a series of haunting nuances and low-slung grooves.

‘Contraction’ sets the tone for the latter half of the EP by utilising precise percussion arrangements to free space in the mix for a selection of classy and resonant pads coupled with slow blooming melodies.Fletcher’s remix of ‘Creaking Contraption’ then strips things back and lays the focus on metallic tones and dubbed out textures.
