Having previously broken talent like UK house duo Dusky, German deep house producer Martin Roth and rising US talent Beckwith, Anjunadeep presents another hotly tipped new artist in the form of 20 year-old Joe Cowie aka Kahwe. Taking their inspiration from late-90s house and garage, Kahwe's productions display a depth and maturity that many older producers fail to grasp.
Full of soulful vocal cut-ups and Balearic textures, ‘Driving Me Wild’ is the more it has already been picking up plays from names as diverse as Bondax and Chymera. A more club focused groove, ‘Anything’ is an infectious old school influenced house track that has been getting a unanimous thumbs up from all that have it; including US house legend Kerri Chandler, Gerd, Vince Watson and Ashley Beedle. Balancing a melodic depth with a deft melancholy, the hazy, blissful ‘Yew’ brings things down with warm and fuzzy textures somewhere between Four Tet and Bondax. It’s out Monday on Anjunadeep.
