DJ, remixer and producer Avicii will burn his way into the history books as the first ever EDM artist to headline at the world-famous Radio City Music Hall in New York. The landmark occasion for the 22-year-old Grammy nominated Swede has been announced as part of a 19-date Stateside Fall Tour, taking in major venues, an eclectic mix of festivals and huge university shows. The historic Radio City Music Hall gig, on 27th September, sees Avicii grace the same stage as legends like Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Sammy Davis Jr, Ray Charles and BB King through to The Eurythmics and The Rolling Stones.

“Just thinking about the greats who have played there is mind-blowing,” said Avicii. “Bringing electronic dance music to Radio City Music Hall is a true honour and will hopefully pave the way for more dance acts to fill its great auditorium. Radio City Music Hall has seen many great parties but none quite like this!”

The technologically advanced stage show, which Avicii debuted at Coachella this year, features a white, head-shaped DJ booth, with 3D-mapped projections creating immersive visual effects.

“It's just crazy to see how [the show] keeps getting better and better,” said the young DJ. "There's a bunch of dates [on the tour] I'm looking forward to, but New York may be the one I look forward to most of all.”

Joel Zimmerman, the artist's booking agent at William Morris, described the upcoming gig as an "historic and spectacular moment for fans at the iconic venue. It is a credible statement for where Avicii is taking the electronic music experience.”

Produced by At Night, the Stateside tour also sees Avicii play two nights at the famed Santa Monica Civic Auditorium, on 14th and 15thSeptember. Tickets for the tour go on sale this Friday, 17th August.

Hailed by Rolling Stone magazine as “one of the Princes of the contemporary renaissance of EDM”, Avicii - born Tim Bergling - is best known for his acclaimed live performances and for international mega-hit ‘Levels’. It conquered club charts worldwide, racked up over 40 million YouTube views, and was declared David Guetta’s “Tune of 2011” in DJmag. Last year the Swede soared to No.6 in DJmag’s annual poll of the Top 100 DJs, after just two years of performing. This year, he’s headlined ULTRA Music Festival, Electric Daisy Carnival and Lollapallooza, while his summer residency at Ushuaïa Beach Hotel in Ibiza continues to be a roadblock event.
