Dirtybird

Dirtybird has always been synonymous with sweaty basslines, quirky ideas and bass driven funk. It's only fitting that a label based on a philosophy of bringing smiles to the dance-floor was created by a party, which this year celebrates 10 years of culinary outdoor antics. To mark this anniversary the label bastions and DJ frontline will be performing a nine-date tour throughout the spring, spanning the birthplace of the Dirtybird empire San Francisco, through to New York, Detroit, Miami, LA, Paris, Brighton and London. The London show takes place over the Easter weekend and will be something of a milestone, hosting the biggest Dirtybird line-up ever to be assembled. A completely unique opportunity to have the whole family all in one place, topped off with their signature BBQ. 

 

The tour dates will all have different line-ups but label ringleader and creator Claude VonStroke heads up all shows along with Justin Martin, who will be releasing his debut artist album in May. Other artists of note will include Julio Bashmore, who since being discovered by Claude, has had a string of stellar EPs on an array of prolific labels, not to mention the genre-defining anthem ‘Battle For Middle You’ from last year. Funk nasty princess J Phlip will appear on several shows as well as the polish duo Catz n Dogz who debuted their amazing Pets Recordings imprint last year to great success. Breach, alias of London’s own vocal styler, Ben Westbeech also joins the team on multiple dates along with Eats Everything who was just named ‘Best Breakthrough Producer’ by DJ Mag in the UK. Dirtybird producers Tom Flynn, French Fries, A1 Bassline, Leroy Peppers, Worthy, Justin Jay, Sacha Robotti and Ardalan complete the worldwide Spring line-ups.

 

The now legendary Golden Gate BBQ's in San Francisco, was the brainchild of the four original Dirtybird members, Christian Martin, Claude VonStroke, Justin Martin and Worthy. They had a personal mission to change the landscape of San Francisco house music by throwing an epic free party in the park based on their new signature sound. With nothing to lose and everything to gain, they assembled the line-up themselves and Christian bought a massive, yet necessary sound system on his credit card. This was the beginning and set the standard for a new era of die-hard dedicated DIY producers, all with new productions based on heavy basslines, smiling faces and dance floor delights. Three years on the label was created by Claude VonStroke solidifying the Dirtybird mandate.

 

Ten years later the original crew remains fully intact and as close nit as ever traversing the globe, releasing records, and throwing parties in their wake. The London leg will be a marathon 15 hours with 11 headline acts. Expect similarly wild-antics and line-ups at the Dirtybird Miami Mansion and Detroit Movement parties.
