Toolroom’s second release of the year sees the return of DJ/production duo Leftwing : Kody who team up with producer James Hurr on their debut outing ‘Music Is the Medication’. Familiar to the label the duo have possibly established themselves as one of the most successful acts to come through the label. Their records have proven popular, from ‘If You Wanna’ and ‘Without You’ with Camden Cox to ‘I Feel It’ which sits on 30 million plus streams on Spotify.
On the flipside James Hurr himself has seen huge success throughout 2022, with a string of tracks across Toolroom, Toolroom Trax and Love & Other which may have catapulted him onto every DJ’s USB and a possible go-to artist for club focused productions. With his records supported by DJs such as John Summit, Claptone and more, 2023 is looking bright for the rising star.
Also featuring is reggae vocalist I Jah, who brings some ragga-styled heat to the record. Back to the track, ‘Music Is The Medication’ is a good way to kickstart 2023, mixing a tough, tech house-focused vibe with UKG styled breaks and a straight to the point ragga vocal overlayed for full effect.
