Following his recent link-up with Artemas for an official remix of ‘I Like The Way You Kiss Me’, Norwegian vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, and producer MRD recently announced that his new EP ‘MISLED YOUTH’ will be out on 20 November via Mad Decent/Live From Earth.
The news is accompanied by new single ‘Honest Times’, which is bolstered by synths and a nostalgic vocal sample, and arrives amidst his ongoing world tour. The track stamps the second outing from the EP after July’s post-punk release ‘Fucking Highschool People’.
The EP marks his first project of 2024 following the release of 2023's ‘Løvehjerte’, which was fronted by electronic, surf-rock tinged Narciss collab ‘Midsommar’.
Hailing from Oslo, MRD came of age in his city's youth skate scene and cut his teeth playing in punk bands, taking influence from a wide array of artists like Prodigy, Pailhead, and Ministry. He views the EP, a project named for Jamie Thomas & Zero Skateboards' 1999 skate video of the same name, as an ode to those salad days — fusing the punk he grew up on with modern trance music.
MRD: “I want people to be nostalgic and happy when they listen to this project — but I also want them to walk away from the experience thinking it's unlike anything else out there. I want it to feel familiar, but from a different planet, too."
