It’s been an exciting journey for AZARI since his debut project AZARI & III achieved commercial success, its self-titled LP earning the quartet a spot in Spin’s top 50 albums of 2011. Singles ‘Reckless With Your Love’ and ‘Hungry For The Power’ helped ignite a movement in anthemic house music that moved the needle away from bloghaus and set the stage for acts like Disclosure, Jamie Jones and various other house music producers.
In the years since, AZARI has released a handful of underground tracks under the name “Dinamo Azari”, honing his sound and developing into a solo artist. His new project, the first under the AZARI name since AZARI & III’s disbandment, fuses the commercial accessibility of AZARI & III with his knowledge of the dance music underground.
The first single ‘Gotasoul’, featuring vocals from James Baley and Mixhell on the TB303, comes alongside a brand new video directed by Brooklyn cyber-art fixture James Moore, fresh off his art direction and stage design work for Arca. The video, starring model and artist Cheeky Ma, creates a visual accompaniment to the stripped-down house track. Set in a futuristic urban utopia, the video follows the journey of a cyber-being discovering her inner soul.
The single and remixes by Aquarian and Vibe Lords will be released on Get Physical Music on 3 August 2018, and a full-length artist album will follow later this summer.
