Glasgow Underground continues 2013 with the late-summer debut release from new artist Barrientos, entitled ‘Feel The Waves’. 23-year old Glasgow-based, Barrientos was discovered by Glasgow Underground via a DJ mix on the synthglasgow.com blog where he’d combined tracks from Matthew Styles, Vince Watson, Atjazz and more into an impressive flow.
Born in the USA and raised by Chilean and English parents, Barrientos studied classic music before making his forays into electronic music via remixes for Romanthony, Visitor and Walker & Royce for GU. ‘Feel The Waves’ takes in five tracks with each track bringing a different vibe. From the skipping garage funk of ‘And Uh’ and M1-led ‘On My Mind’ to the blissed out, vocal deep house of ‘Feel Waves’ there’s real musical depth here. When the tempos drop a little with the electronic disco of ‘Los Suenos’ and the beatless ‘Eventide (outro)’ the melodies breathe even more and further showcase Barrientos’ slick touch. It’s out August 19 on Beatport.
