Sankeys

Sankeys

This weekend sees the two club nights that have defined Sankeys over the past 15 years going toe to toe. Friday sees Tribal Sessions, the original party to bring back acid house values to club land, squaring off with Kaluki’s Saturday offering in what promises to be a top weekend in Manchester. Tribal Sessions returns with one of the superstars they helped shape; James Zabiela. The authority on Pioneer’s CDJ deck, James was a breakthrough DJ when Tribal Sessions first exploded, gaining exposure on his highly publicised touring with Sasha and his ability to weld breaks, dark techno and ass-shaking house to the progressive sounds he was a part of.

James is now a headline act everywhere from Tennessee to Tokyo. His peerless technical ability now incorporates an iPad into his sets for a tour de force of tricks, technique and wizardry. Support comes in the shape of Pleasurekraft, the American duo whose gloriously rambunctious house music has ignited the passions of bloggers and hedonistic groove purveyors across the globe. Up in Spektrum, the next Continue takes place. Once more uniting the new wave of techno, this is one of the UK’s defining parties, inviting seminal DJs and producers to Sankeys. At this session headliner Tin Man is one of the UK’s most prolific acid music producers right now, there’s also A Sagitarriun’s melodic techno, Sankeys’ own crate-digging resident Jozef K and Antidote all star on Friday March 2nd

Kaluki will be helmed by Marco Carola, the techno tyrant that brings the wickedness each and every time he plays, cavorting through every facet of house and techno throughout his sets. Ferocious looped techno, stripped back drum tracks or heavily filtered house grooves; this is a DJ who gifts every dance floor he plays at an unflinching bolt of energy, Support for Marco comes in the face of forward thinking LA triumvirate Droog. Their US showcases have spotlighted the talents of Magda, Loco Dice and Dixon, whilst their imprint Culprit has gained acclaim as one of the most pioneering labels on the planet. Krank Brother stalwart Max Chapman and Sankeys and Kaluki promoter Ellesse complete the bill. For full details log onto:
