Moda Black is back with a new EP from Alexis Raphael. On 'Shutdown' Raphael serves up two tracks that continue in the tradition he has already established in the early part of his career. He is part of London's new breed of electronic music acts and earned his stripes across the pirate radio stations of North and East London during the late '90s and early '00s, going on to hold residencies at clubs such as The Cross and Bagley's. 

Last week saw Dennis Ferrer’s Objektivity imprint release a new two-tracker, in the form of remixes of Ane Brun’s ‘To Let Myself Go’ from Dennis Ferrer and André Hommen. The EP showcases a tug of war between ethereal and electronic and with Dennis Ferrer providing a measured pace and André a driving bassline, Ane’s soul-drenched vocals ring out across this EP, forging a sonic landscape.

Magna Carta recently revealed their Saturday line-ups for their forthcoming season at Sankeys in Ibiza. The London night has hosted at the club before and representing them this summer will be the likes of Moon Harbour’s East End Dubs, Spaniard Ramon Tapia and the UK’s One Records’ regular Jordan Peak.

The second in Ministry Of Sound’s ‘Inspired’ compilation series comes from Australian DJ/producer duo NERVO. Having first established their credentials writing hit records for the likes of Armin van Buuren, Ke$ha and even Kylie Minogue, as well as writing David Guetta & Kelly Rowland’s Grammy award-winning single ‘When Love Takes Over’, NERVO now aim to try and position themselves as one of the most exciting dance music acts in the world. 

On Friday 02 May Defected In The House joins forces with Mixmag Live for the first party of the Defected15 Club Tour at London’s Oval Space. Performing on the night will be Noir, Osunlade, Chasing Kurt (Live), Simon Dunmore, Copyright, Sam Divine and Sonny Fodera. In addition, it was recently announced that Guti will also be making a guest appearance to perform his celebrated live show.

Hot off an album release week (#1 iTunes Electronic Album) bookended by two successful Coachella performances and rave Quack reviews, Duck Sauce continue their streak of alternative music videos with a clip for new single ‘NRG’. 

Paul van Dyk recently announced the first round of DJs joining him in the surrounds of Berlin’s famous Zitadelle Spandau for the third We Are One Festival. With just under four months to go, last year’s festival drew a capacity crowd of electronic music lovers from all corners of Europe and far beyond. 

There’s just under three months to go until Germany’s Melt! Festival takes over Ferropolis from 18to 20 July, bringing together music lovers from all over the world with an abundance of beats and bass. Acts including Portishead, Robyn & Röyksopp Do It Again 2014, Moderat, Jagwar Ma, Little Dragon Metronomy and many more have already been confirmed. 

With the recent Phase 2 additions to the Ultra Europe 2014 line up getting dance fans excited for the second edition of the festival in Split, Croatia this July, UMF TV recently released a new video to increase the hype for the forthcoming festival. 

It’s been a fast rise for Sick Individuals. With two Beatport No1s secured in as many months last year, Jim and Ray have continued with new tracks into 2014, including the just released, ‘Rock & Rave’, which is out now on Ultra Records. Premiered on the YouTube channel Proximity, the track has already clocked up over 100,000 views in the space of a week. 

A joint release between Ministry of Sound and Speakerbox, Secondcity’s ‘I Wanna Feel’ is on course to become a big tune over the next few months. Born in Chicago and raised in the UK, over the past 12 months he has possibly established himself as one of the most talked about newcomers in electronic music. 

DJ Mag Sessions launches at Ministry Of Sound on Saturday 17 May with Riva Starr, Kevin Saunderson and more for the first in a string of takeover events featuring some of the world’s finest electronic music talent. Making his club return after a packed-out set on Boxing Day last year, Riva Starr will be bringing his trademark mix of tech-house, Latin beats and jackin house to South London.

For over three decades Paul Oakenfold has elevated and shaped an entire genre and remains one of the leading forces in the global music scene. This week the 3 x Grammy nominated producer/DJ received the Creative Fusion Award at the 2014 BritWeek UKTI Business Innovation Awards in Los Angeles for his contributions to the music scene, which have had a major impact in the UK and US and further helped bridge the creative divide between the two nations.

Rising UK DJ/producer Karuva drops his second release this Monday, the 3-track ‘Bomba EP’ on Phoenix Music. The title track ‘Bomba’ has already received props from DJs such as Erick Morillo and The Shapeshifters, who’re digging the track’s deadly synth workout over drums and dubbed up vocals. 

Café Mambo in Ibiza’s will celebrate its 20^th anniversary year with a flagship birthday season, a global tour, special events and an album. Café Mambo reopens for business on 16 May with the first of many birthday celebrations throughout the summer season. One of the world’s best sunset destinations and free party hub, the venue will again feature regular guest appearances from some the biggest names in electronic music and the hottest new talent.

We Love Sundays At Space recently revealed this season’s residents, welcoming a key group of international artists to the team, with a few familiar faces joining some new ones. In addition to regular island residents, holding court this year will be Sasha, Skream, James Zabiela, Dusky, Paul Woolford, Bicep, Ben UFO and Disclosure.

Last year’s inaugural Solomun +1 night at Pacha, Ibiza saw the Diynamic boss headline with just one of his selected peers playing alongside him, including the likes of Âme, Dennis Ferrer and Tensnake. Now, it makes a return in 2014 and continues with last year’s successful format.

‘Puro Desert Lounge Volume Five’ is the latest instalment in the series, set for release on Seamless Recordings. Made up of two discs, mixed and compiled by Seamless label don, Ben Sowton, and Puro Group resident, Sebas Ramis, this release features down-tempo desert vibes, and hypnotic deep house grooves, marking a welcome return for the ‘Puro Desert Lounge’ series after a year’s break.

Parisian trio Jaxx Inc jump into springtime with an abundance of ambition, releasing a selection of tracks over the course of a four week period. Hugo, Max and Clement – whose music may well be growing on the consciousness of the EDM collective – have been hard at work in their studio in Northern France putting the finishing touches to their bank of original music. 

Houseclass returns to CDLC Barcelona in May, running weekly from Thursday the 1st until 4th September with a special Frankie Knuckles memorial. The Barcelona events series ran for the first time last summer, playing host to a strong line-up of classic house DJs. The premise is much the same in 2014, with Kerri Chandler booked to oversee the opening party. 

When British producers Ricky Simmonds and Steve Jones joined together to form Lustral, they started a partnership that would last for over 15 years. Banking on genuine musicality and inspired concepts, the duo saw club and chart success with their very first record, ‘Everytime’, featuring Tracy Ackerman. That was in 1997 and since then the duo have produced various tracks under other aliases.

Coldplay recently announced that ‘Midnight’ - one of the songs from their upcoming new album ‘Ghost Stories’ - has been remixed by Giorgio Moroder. The legendary Italian electronic music pioneer’s reworking is available to download now, from iTunes. 

Ibiza Rocks House at Pikes and Pacha Ibiza recently announced a weekly residency to bring the ‘daddy of all ‘House’ parties to the daddy of all clubs’ on Monday nights. For 20 weeks, Ibiza Rocks House will be at Pacha Ibiza from 26 May to 6 October, where the club will transform and the performers will tempt, tease and delight as the heavy breath of hedonism fills the air.

George Acosta is a man with an unbroken discography that stretches right the way back to the earliest days of Strictly Rhythm and more recently on labels like Dim Mak, Black Hole and more. On ‘Don’t Say It’s Over’ he’s drawn on the vocal effervescence of Miss Palmer and the track includes remixes from producers such as Kim Fai, DJ Exodus, LJ MTX & Jason Risk Remix, Happy Enemies & Eran Hersh.

Having already locked down their D&B track 'Falling' earlier this year, Aston Harvey & Matt Cantor, aka Freestylers, are back to the frontlines in the blink of an eye. Joining the ranks for this ’88 channeling ride is acid housemaster himself, Fast Eddie, who fires up 'The Sound' with his infectious microphone ministrations. 

Roger Sanchez officially debuted his S-Man alter ego in 1994 with ‘Time 2 Stop’ on UK house label, Hard Times. Now, to mark the 20th anniversary and his perpetual love affair with the darker end of current house music, S-Man returns in 2014 with ‘Dangerous Thoughts’, the debut release on his new label, UNDR THE RADR.

Above & Beyond recently announced that the 100th episode of their Group Therapy radio show will be broadcast live from one of the world’s most famous arenas, Madison Square Garden in New York City, on Saturday, 18 October.

Ministry of Sound recently announced video streaming with ‘Live From The Club’. ‘Live From The Club’ launches this Saturday, 19 April (with Benny Benassi) with live video streaming every Friday and Saturday night from 1am until 7am (6am on Fridays). 

Before the term EDM, The Crystal Method aka Scott Kirkland and Ken Jordan were arguably the first true US dance music stars. Two decades since they formed, and following the release of their long-awaited self-titled fifth studio album, Kirkland and Jordan may well again be one of America’s most exciting electronic music duos. Their next release, the ‘Over It EP’, is a six-track collection of remixes of ‘Over It’ featuring Dia Frampton.

On Sunday May 4^th The Warehouse Leeds turns 35-years old and helping them celebrate will be Maya Jane Coles, Kim Ann Foxman, Laura Jones and Bloody Mary. Over the years the club has played host to anyone who is anyone from the world’s of house, techno, bass, prog, D&B and dubstep, where names that have passed through the doors include the likes of Sasha, Soft Cell and Grandmaster Flash, with parties like Back To Basics visiting each month.

DJ Fresh is back with his latest track and is ready to 'Make U Bounce’. Fresh's love of working with producers that inspire him and adopting the 'VS' approach to production has so far seen him teaming up with Stateside producer Diplo and Moombahton's Jay Fay, on the hit records 'Earthquake' & 'Dibby Dibby Sound'. 

‘McQueen Shoreditch Volume One’ is the brand new compilation from Seamless Recordings which has just been released this week. From soulful deep house to underground tech house selections, this two-part album mixed and compiled by Timo Garcia and McQueen’s Shane Macauley captures the vibes of the award-winning McQueen. Based in the east end of London in Shoreditch, McQueen is host to some populpar brands including Hed Kandi, Pukka Up and  Seamless Sessions. 

Ibiza’s Pukka Up, have launched a brand new range of clothing for the 2014 season in collaboration with street wear fashion brand, Your Own – Y-O. The new collection called ‘YO Going Global’ features a selection of women’s and menswear, embellished with the Pukka Up and YO branding. Y-O is the brain child of Anthony and Chris Donnelly who decked out the likes of Amy Winehouse and Pete Doherty in their iconic Gio-Goi range. 

Returning to Leftroom with his third EP after previous outings in 2009 and 2012 is Gavin Herlihy, the Irish born producer who has also released on labels like Cocoon, Culprit and Crosstown Rebels. An accomplished DJ who plays everywhere from fabric to Panorama Bar, the former journalist has plenty of tricks up his sleeves as evidenced by this EP, complete with a remix from boss Matt Tolfrey. What’s more, there will be a vinyl version released later with different remixes exclusive to the 12".

Mia Dora return to Glasgow Underground this month with the ‘Jezebel’ EP, backed with remixes from Walker & Royce and another from ThermalBear. Mia Dora, better known to their friends as Al Quinn and Robert Etherson, have taken huge strides in their career of late, dropping material via Kerri Chandler’s MadTech Records, Jaymo & Andy George’s Moda Black and of course Glasgow Underground where they return to here following a string of remixes for the likes of Romanthony, Admin and Walker & Royce. 

This month will see Waifs & Strays release their ‘Don’t You Stop’ EP via Kerri Chandler’s MadTech Records, a two track single from the Bristolian artists. Waifs & Strays aka Amos Nelson and Richard Beanland have a decent back catalogue, having racked up singles on imprints such as Futureboogie, Hot Creations, Leftroom and Heidi’s Jackathon Jams. 

On Saturday 12 July and Sunday 13 July, Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC) will return to the UK for a two-day party. Electric Daisy Carnival UK will transform outdoor entertainment venue Milton Keynes Bowl into a brand new world, with stages including Kinetic Field, Circuit Grounds and Cosmic Meadow. The festival will feature its signature creative elements including state-of-the-art production, special effects, roaming costumed performers, interactive art installations and the biggest LED show, never seen before in the UK, for one weekend only.

Earlier this year, Carl Cox and Safehouse Management announced ‘Music Is Revolution’ at Space, Ibiza, with a host of new changes including two additional nights for summer 2014. Since then, Carl and his team have been working hard putting the finishing touches to this season’s line-ups, as they recently revealed who’s playing at the first four events.

The Electric Frog & Pressure Riverside Festival recently confirmed the final acts added to the exclusive official festival after-party bill for the two day event this May Bank Holiday weekend. Stretching across two Glasgow venues, SWG3 and The Admiral, the festival organisers announced that Tiga, Killer Kitsch and Mash will play the Admiral venue on Saturday 3 May.

After a few weeks revealing their plans, the full season outlook at Sankeys was recently confirmed. Welcoming back some residents from last year as well as inviting new acts and labels to do their thing each week, the 2014 programme covers many bases from house to tech, to crossover dance and underground house and techno.

Kinect Sports Rivals, which is currently available in North America, Australia and New Zealand, will be available in Europe this Friday 11 April, exclusively on Xbox One. Whether fans are looking to tackle the new sports – climbing, wake racing and target shooting – or experience the re-imagined favourites – soccer, tennis and bowling – the Xbox One and the new Kinect aims to deliver next-gen motion sports gameplay like never before.

Cosmic Gate recently announced the latest development in their #WYM marque. Bringing a new level of definition to Wake Your Mind’s sound, they now get set for Wake Your Mind Radio. Across 60 minutes, the fully formatted show will feature Nic & Bossi discussing and airing the tracks that have been working for them. It’ll also encompass first-listen music premieres and tracks from the deeper side of the WYM psyche. 

This Saturday, 12 April, Tiësto’s Musical Freedom Records presents its first NYC showcase at Brite Nites @ Webster Hall. Emerging artists Dzeko & Torres, Baggi Begovic and MOTi will hit the Webster Hall stage to celebrate the first anniversary of the popular Brite Nites dance party. 

On 2 June 2014 at Amnesia in Ibiza, Sven Väth will present the first of 18 big Monday nights to rattle your cage and sweat those new shoes. Cocoon 15, their most sonically sensual series of adventures to date, is planned with loving precision for this year, where anything can happen and probably will. 

Released at the end of 2013, ‘Pure Deep House’ proved a big hit with dance music fans and house heads alike, reaching silver disc status, and spending eight weeks in the UK compilation album chart top 10 in the process. Pure now returns with ‘Pure Deep House 2: The Very Best of Deep House & Garage’, which has just been released. 

After announcing his new album (to be released this summer), Dash Berlin recently revealed the first track from it – ‘Earth Meets Water’, a big track that went down well at  A State of Trance in Utrecht this year. 

Serbian festival, Exit, celebrates its 15^th year with a UK and European tour, showcasing some of the acts of EXIT from the past, present and future. On Saturday 3 May, the EXIT XV Tour 2014 arrives at Ministry of Sound for the flagship party with M.A.N.D.Y., Jaymo & Andy George, Waze & Odyssey and SE7EN in the Box.

In the run up to the Revealed Recordings’ second North American tour, Hardwell recently revealed the official website for the tour, where he will be joined by long-time Revealed family members Dyro and Dannic on a tour bus that will take in 10 USA venues. 

Cocoon in the Park returns to Leeds in 2014 with a bigger, extended line-up of five diverse acts. In true Cocoon tradition Sven Väth will headline the event, alongside support from a line-up including Seth Troxler, Appolonia, Enzo Siragusa and a special guest all across one stage. 

British producer, Ejeca, today releases a three track EP entitled 'What You Think' via Jaymo & Andy George's Moda Black imprint. Ejeca is one of latest producers to emerge from Belfast's dance music scene, after a youth spent getting hazy at Shine left a lasting impression on him. With releases on Need Want, Aus Music, Last Night On Earth, two Essential New Tunes, he also has an international touring schedule already in the bag.

Jakwob aka London-based producer, DJ and multi-instrumentalist musician, James Jacob, recently released his latest track on Digital Soundboy. With Shy FX on A&R duties, Digital Soundboy is home to some of electronic music’s freshest talents including Breakage, Dismantle and Radio 1’s B. Traits, with a back catalogue of releases that include Skream, Benga, Redlight, Caspa, Rusko, Calibre and DJ Fresh.

Carlsbad – Razer is set to launch its first electronic music initiative with Afrojack. The partnership is spawning an app that combines Afrojack’s skills with the Razer Blade Pro laptop to help DJs and producers make better music. Afrojack teamed-up last year with Razer to consult on the Razer Blade Pro gaming laptop and Razer DeathStalker Ultimate™ gaming keyboard for music production. The new music application, dubbed the Afrojack Production Studio™, is the first initiative born of the relationship between the artist and the gaming brand. 

Back with another track, Crosstown Rebels have just released the latest track from Psychemagik, 'Black Noir Schwarz’, ­ their first original production not to be self-­released and already championed by Pete Tong on BBC Radio 1. A big club track, the original is driven by the wonky bassline, dark and sultry vocal (from Renata De Sutter aka Renegade) and freaky synths. Spooky keys and chords, and grinding distorted bass bring the track to even murkier depths. Featuring remixes by Tensnake and ex Audio Bully Minéo, this should be a biggie.

After a very successful Miami Music Week, Israeli-born DJ/producer and Lost & Found label boss Guy J continues with his assault on clubland. Fresh off the back of his first ever Miami label party at the Shore Club’s Red Rooms; a special set for the landmark live broadcast of John Digweed’s 500^th ‘Transitions’ radio show direct from his annual sunset cruise; and a performance at the Bedrock showcase at Cameo Nightclub on Miami’s South Beach, Guy recently announced his latest track.

Three years after his last album, ‘Ghost People’, Martyn joins the Ninja Tune family to present his third long player. 

As summer fast approaches and people everywhere start preparing for a season of clubbing on European shores, Cream have been putting together the finishing touches to another season which this year will see them celebrate 20 years on the White Isle. As the longest running UK club night, Cream have maintained their reign as one of the biggest and most successful club nights on the island with their Thursday nights at Amnesia becoming an icon of Ibiza’s clubland. 

Last Saturday, Deep Dish (aka DJs Dubfire and Sharam) made their much anticipated headline return at Miami’s Ice Palace Studios, bringing along friends Andhim, Hot Since 82 and Carl Craig for a night (and morning) to remember. Introduced by Pete Tong, and with some of dance music’s biggest names in attendance, Deep Dish took to the stage under the cloak of darkness with their mysterious ambient intro signalling their return. 

Toolroom Records recently announced ‘The Return Of Wolfy’, the first single release of the year from one of our favourite DJ/producers, Toolroom label head honcho Mark Knight.

Moving dancefloors since the age of 15, South African DJ/producer, Cuebur, teams up with singer Vikter Duplaix to release ‘I See You’ on the very cool Soul Heaven label. 

Egyptian trance DJ/producers, Aly & Fila, have put their signature uplifting spin on Luke Bond's January track, 'On Fire'. Bumping Roxanne Emery's yearning vocals and Luke's progressive beats up to a faster BPM and adding a rush of soaring trance riffs and happy melodies, Aly & Fila have taken the already emotionally-charged song to another level.

Sad to hear this morning that 'Godfather of House Music', Frankie Knuckles, has died aged 59. Although born in NYC, Frankie had closer links with Chicago, where he moved to and was instrumental in the birth and development of house music in the 1980s.

The Gallery celebrates its 19th birthday at the Ministry of Sound on Friday 25 April. The party, which has helped launch the careers of many big name DJs, has also been one of the responsible factors for putting trance, progressive and electronic dance music on the musical map in London, providing the music that has defined a generation of clubbers.
