Apparently one of The Netherlands most popular singer/songwriters, Janne Schra releases her new single ‘Carry On’ on 7 August. The track, released on Berlin’s Embassy One label, is the latest from her new album, ‘Ponzo’ and showcases her cool and quirky, eclectic pop style. Dutch producer Mason has taken the summery tune and reformatted it for the dancefloor, which sees its release today. Also included are big remixes from Chopstick & JohnJon, JustOne and Feiertag.

‘Carry On’ is driven by a muted, disco-flavoured guitar riff and laid-back 4/4 beat, where Schra’s vocal is delivered with a knowing drawl. Mason’s remix captures the far out charm of the original, bringing the unorthodox guitar riffs to the fore, on top of bouncing beats and a funked up bassline.

Alongside a useful instrumental version, Chopstick & JohnJon also step up to deliver a vocal mix that showcases their brand of deeper house and techno for the cooler dancefloors. New Portuguese/Dutch producer, JustOne, shows why he’s getting support from the likes of Afrojack and Nicky Romero, as he toughens it up with a euphoric mix, full of big drops. Up and coming talent, Feiertag takes it the other way, with a downtempo, bass-heavy mix, that shows off his skills as a drummer/percussionist.

Janne Schra rose to prominence as the lead singer of the jazz/blues outfit Room Eleven, enjoying two hit albums in The Netherlands, including one platinum seller, and going on to tour the world, until they went their separate ways in 2010. As a solo artist, she has enjoyed yet more success with two further top 10 albums.

The tongue-in-cheek video sees Schra invoke the image of Jane Fonda as she sets about taking an aerobics class for OAPS, urging them to ‘carry on’, whilst also seeming to require the same motivational message herself.
